My Favourite Bands 2019
Published: April 7, 2019
Slaves
Definitely up there with the best live performances I’ve ever seen if not THE best. The energy these lads bring to the music game along with some quirky lyrics makes these guys one of my favourite bands out there currently. Also, Isaac how do you drum and sing at the same time with such speed? It genuinely baffles me! But if you’ve never given Slaves a listen then there’s no better time to start than now.
The Smiths
Probably my all time favourite band. Definitely, not everyone’s acquired taste but The Smiths are pure class and are one of the main influencers of Indie music and starting the new wave movement. The Smiths for me is a band that I will just never get tired of and will forever be in my all time greats list. Unfortunately, I will never see them play live as they are before my time as I am only 20 years old. But who knows maybe a reunion is on the cards no matter how unlikely it may be.
Catfish & The Bottlemen
Just like Slaves, seeing Catfish & The Bottlemen is one hell of a live atmosphere. With their new album ‘The Balance’ being released at the end of April I am very to see what they will come up with as the latest release after The Balcony and The Ride. Two really good albums and another band that I will never get tired of as I don’t think they have ever released a bad song and long may that continue.
The Strypes
One of my favourite bands ever. Recently split up at the end of 2018 following 3 great albums. Over their time they achieved a hell of a lot including the likes of supporting Paul Weller and Arctic Monkeys and hopefully a reunion is on the cards for the lads. The reason for their split was for the band members wanting to explore different avenues in music and acting and we all wish them the best here at Get Those Lyrics.
Blossoms
Their electric and 80’s vibe brings something to the indie game. I would love to go to see them at Stockport County’s stadium Edgeley Park in June but I may have to miss that one. I did see them in December 2018 and I was blown away by how good they were live and what a really refreshing sound they are in the music scene. Which is probably what appeals to me the most. Their second album ‘Cool Like You’ was a great sequel to their self-titled debut album and hopefully, 2019 may see the release of new material and who knows. Maybe a third album?
